The Huazhao Festival

The Huazhao Festival, aka the Flower God Festival, is a traditional event in memory of the birthday of flower gods, which dates back 800 more years ago in Fuzhou and was held 6th March at Yantai Hill Park. The festival orginates from ancient spring outing for appreciating flower. Nowaday it has been revived and became a Fujian Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Sacrifice to flower gods was its major activity, accompanied with art performances. The other activity was that young people in ancient attires tied colorful ribbons with written wishes onto flowery twigs. Cosplay in ancient attires featured in the festival.
