On 17th December, having been appraised by Intergovernmental meeting on Intangible Cultural Heritage under UNESCO, the custom of "Sending God's Ship" was added onto the list of UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It was applied together by China and Malaysia. In China, Ministry of Culture and Tourism directed the application and Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism fulfilled it, which covered communities in Xiamen, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou.

Sending God's Ship is a folklore rite popular in Chinese communities in south Fujian and South-east Asia.  People in their coastal area lived on ocean and prayed for blessing by the rite. In late October, a well-decked ship model is held to parade to seaside. The ship is used to welcome god. And then the ship is launched onto sea.
